GOODY TWO SHOES: Gays Use Same Playbook As Eco-Terrorists

Eco-terrorists have been known to pressure pharmaceutical laboratories conducting animal research to shut down by publicizing the names and addresses of scientists, corporate officers and shareholders on the Internet. Now, gay activists are using the tactic to expose people who sign petitions against same-sex marriage online.

The Christ Church of Peace in Jacksonville, FL, has published the names and addresses of 400,000 people who signed a petition supporting a ban on same-sex marriage on its Web site, and gay activists in Provincetown, RI, have set up a Web site for this purpose. Two residents of the town complain that they have been singled out and verbally abused by gays ("breeders" and "baby makers" appear to be the pejoratives of choice) since they were outed – and one woman has even been assaulted:

Less than a decade after a successful campaign to end violent paroxysms of "gay bashing" in the beach town at the tip of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, police and town officials report a resurgence in tension between gays and straight people.

Police Chief Ted Meyer said straight people complained of being called "breeders" over the July Fourth holiday weekend, and that in one serious incident a man was charged with assaulting a woman who signed a petition to ban same-sex marriage in Massachusetts, the only state where it is legal. …

The flare-ups in a town that overflows in summer with a colorful mix of gay couples often openly holding hands or kissing, cross-dressers and flocks of curious tourists coincide with a planned vote this year in the state Legislature on an amendment to ban gay marriage -- a measure that has rallied activists on both sides of the issue. …

Town officials said the town is struggling to strike a balance between protecting the right to freedom of expression for petition signers, and ensuring its gay majority contain their anger at what many see as an assault on their hard-won right to marriage.

Police would not classify the slurs and name-calling as "hate crimes."

Obviously, it’s only a “hate crime” if the perpetrator is Caucasian and/or male and/or heterosexual and/or from the deep South. Hello! Everyone knows minorities, women, gays and urbanites are always the victims in such violent displays of intolerance. The Stiletto is glad that Provincetown has such a crackerjack (oops, is that a slur of some kind?) police force.
