WHAT A HEEL!: This Mouse Wasn’t Doing The Backstroke
Ricky Lee Patterson, 23, and his mother, Carla Patterson, tried to shake down a Cracker Barrel restaurant by claiming that there was a rodent in the soup that Mrs. Patterson was served during a Mother’s Day meal in 2004. Turns out, there was no soup in the mouse’s lungs – so it couldn’t have drowned in the cooking pot – and its head had been bashed in – so it was likely dead before ending up in the soup. Mother and son were both found guilty of conspiracy to commit extortion, and Mrs. Patterson sentenced to a year in prison and fined $2,500 in July. Her son received the same sentence last week.
