WHAT A HEEL!: A Burning Desire To Fight Forest Fires
Federal firefighter Levi Miller, 22, of Salmon, Idaho, pleaded guilty to starting two forest fires near the Idaho-Montana border in 2003. In a written confession, he admitted using cigars and baskets of smoldering charcoal to ignite the blazes because, "I was bored and wanted to fight fires" [to make money]. Under the terms of a plea bargain, Miller faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $50,000 for each of the two felony arson counts, and agreed to make restitution for the damage caused by the two fires.
