WHAT A HEEL!: Man Burns Girlfriend’s Kittens Alive
Robert Tomlin, 22, of Smithsburg, MD, pleaded guilty to killing his former girlfriend’s four kittens by throwing them into a fire pit after the couple argued. A tanked-up Tomlin had also hit his live-in girlfriend, Kelli Ann Green, leaving her with a bloody ear, but assault charges were dropped in the plea agreement. Washington County Circuit Judge John McDowell sentenced Tomlin to 1½ years in jail for aggravated animal cruelty, then suspended all but the 134 days already served. The judge also ordered Tomlin to have no contact with Green, her family or with any animals, as well as to be assessed for mental health and substance abuse problems.
