WHAT A HEEL!: Judges Judge Judge’s Judgement
Seminole County Judge John Sloop, 57, had 11 people strip-searched and jailed for nine hours for being late to traffic court because they had been misdirected to another courtroom. At a Judicial Qualifications Commission hearing, Sloop cited mitigating circumstances for that and other untoward conduct in his 15-year career as a jurist: undiagnosed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The Florida Supreme Court was having none of it, and issued a unanimous ruling to remove him from the bench. The justices also offered an apology on behalf of the judicial system to the 11 defendants, who had came to traffic court on citations that included driving with a suspended license and having an illegal tag.
