GOODY TWO SHOES: Et Tu, PETA?
Earlier in the month, The Stiletto took People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to task for not even raising a whimper when Muslims in the US and around the world slaughtered tens of thousands of cattle, goats, sheep and other animals in inhumane and unhygienic circumstances during Eid al-Adha. Now, two PETA employees, Adria J. Hinkle and Andrew B. Cook, are on trial in NC on 21 counts each of animal cruelty, littering and obtaining property by false pretenses. Local officials allege that Hinkle and Cook promised to find unwanted animals homes and secretly killed them instead, then tossed garbage bags crammed with euthanized cats and dogs into a Dumpster behind a Piggly Wiggly supermarket. PETA claims that the animals were given humane deaths as an alternative to being killed in animal shelter "gas chambers."
