Mary and Ted Roberts, husband and wife lawyers from San Antonio, TX, have been indicted for allegedly shaking down four married men with whom Mary had trysted, threatening them with public exposure and litigation unless they forked over some money to assuage Ted’s emotional distress. Ted reportedly collected about $144,000 from the four men by threatening to file tort claims against them for intentional infliction of emotional distress. If convicted, both husband and wife each face as much as 20 years imprisonment and up to a $10,000 fine.
