WHAT A HEEL!: He Must Have Really Loved Those Pants


Washington, D.C., administrative law judge Roy L. Pearson Jr. is suing Custom Cleaners for $65 million for the "mental suffering, inconvenience and discomfort" caused by the loss of a pair of pants, and for his legal costs – even though the owners of the dry cleaning establishment offered to pay for new pants, tried to settle and may have even found the pants. The Washington Post reports that this isn’t the first time Pearson has used the courts to wage a personal vendetta: Reviewing Pearson’s 2005 divorce proceedings, the Virginia Court of Appeals upheld findings that "unnecessary litigation" he created caused "excessive driving up" of legal costs. The notoriety of the missing pants suit may jeopardize Pearson’s reappointment to a new 10-year term.
