NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Paper Trail
Drug-sniffing dogs on a routine sweep of Ball High School in Galveston, TX, made a beeline to Spanish teacher Stakely McConnell’s classroom desk. No drugs were found in the desk, according to school police chief LeeRoy Amador, but the dogs detected the scent of marijuana on papers McConnell had handled. A search of the 25-year old teacher’s car yielded a half-smoked joint. McConnell allegedly copped to smoking pot over the weekend, and has been placed on administrative leave after his arrest on marijuana possession charges. Normally, he would face up to one year in prison and a $4,000 fine, but since Ball High School is a drug-free zone the DA can seek a maximum two-year sentence and $10,000 fine.
