WHAT A HEEL!: Hey, It Was An Emergency!

Andrea Smalls, 22, of Morrisville, PA, allegedly stole an ambulance that was left running while EMT personnel attended to an 81-year old stroke victim, because her car was out of gas. District Judge Michael J. Burns has ordered Smalls to stand trial on charges that include theft and receiving stolen property. The rescue squad had to summon another ambulance to take the elderly man to the hospital, and he died a week later – but the D.A. says there is no evidence proving that the 20 minute wait for the second ambulance contributed to the victim’s death, so Smalls avoids an involuntary manslaughter charge.
