NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Giving Police Dog The Evil Eye Is Not Animal Cruelty
VT State Police Sgt. Todd Protzman filed a misdemeanor cruelty to animals complaint against Jayna Hutchinson for "staring" at a police dog in a "taunting/harassing manner"; she was allegedly inebriated at the time of the incident, with a blood alcohol level of .218. After viewing a video of Hutchinson interacting with the dog, Orange County State's Attorney Will Porter dismissed the case on the grounds that it would be difficult to prove she "intentionally torment(ed) or harass(ed) an animal owned … by a police department," reports The Barre-Montpelier Times Argus.
