NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Angelina Jolie Amends The First Amendment
Angelina Jolie tried to force journalists to sign a contract dictating the terms of interviews promoting her new film, "A Mighty Heart," in which she plays the widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. If a journalist violated the terms the interview would be terminated immediately, and the journalist would be subject to a lawsuit and restraining order. USA Today and The Associated Press canceled interviews, rather than agree to be gagged. Fox News’s Roger Friedman quotes a reporter as saying, "I wouldn't sign it. Who does she think she is?" Ironically, the movie’s premiere Wednesday night included an event to raise money for Reporters Without Borders, an organization that supports press freedom worldwide.
