GOODY TWO SHOES: The Stiletto Gets Results (Sorta)

James Taranto spotlights a piece about an EastWest Institute conference from the New York Sun in Friday’s edition of his "Best of the Web Today" column (curiously, he did not include this item in a new feature he calls "Wannabe Pundits" - but this is a whole ‘nother story that’s long and convoluted and has an expanding cast of characters, so The Stiletto must leave it for later). In a recent post, The Stiletto suggested that Taranto has been somewhat remiss in making disclosures ethical journalists typically make when they have a particular interest or stake in something they are touting in an article. Well, this time he included a kinda sorta disclosure at the end of the item:

* Disclosure: Heather Robinson, author of the Sun story, was our guest at an EastWest Institute dinner last week.

Although the disclosure is so delicately worded as to be um, vague, as to the nature of the conflict of interest, it is a small step in the right direction.

* Disclosure: The Stiletto, author of numerous posts about the Armenian Genocide, has had a beef with Taranto since he revealed himself to be an Armenian Genocide denier (third item, "The Daily Blade"). The Stiletto is always on the lookout for anyone who tries to minimize or deny the crime against humanity Ottoman Turks perpetrated, and lets ‘em have it. Taranto can take small comfort in knowing that he’s not The Stiletto’s only target.
