NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: Car’s Clutch Confounds Carjackers
Two men attempted to jack a Jetta at gunpoint outside Denny's restaurant - from a couple who knew and could identify them. Compounding their not-so-grand auto theft, they were unable to make the quick getaway that they had hoped for because they did not know how to drive a car with manual transmission, according to police department's spokesman Detective Bill Veteran. After they fled in another vehicle, the car’s owner and his girlfriend drove off without reporting the crime – but a witness, a Denny's employee, did call the police.
