IN MY SHOES: The USA’s Birthday Is Also The Stiletto Blog’s Birthday!

The Stiletto had been contributing content to various political commentary sites for several years, and decided to strike out on her own on July 4, 2006.

Since that time, The Stiletto Blog has posted more than 1,000 entries (a news round-up, each edition of The Daily Blade averages three posts). The Stiletto also posts on Political Mavens, a sister site of Jewish World Review, and content from The Stiletto Blog has been republished or excerpted on other blogs (and one vlog!), including Amazing Facts, iArarat, CartoonNetworkTelevision.com, Cheat-Seeking Missiles, The Hillary Project, Mickey Kaus/Bloggingheads.tv, PoliticalYard.com, Right Voices and USS Neverdock.

Having the luxury of being able to call it as she sees it - this blog is not owned or published by a large corporate entitity worried about shareholder backlash - The Stiletto has scooped the MSM and other pundits on several occasions, being the first to spot a trend, make a connection between events or find a fresh look at conventional wisdom. Here are 10 examples:

When The Stiletto Blog launched, it wasn’t on Google’s radar screen. Today, the blog is at or near the top of the natural search results, ahead of hundreds of thousands of shoe and knife purveyors, other Web sites and blogs with "stiletto" in their names and the occasional porn site (keyword "The Stiletto Blog": #1 of about 1,030,000 English pages; keyword "The Stiletto": #2 of about 2,040,000 English pages; keyword "Stiletto": #16 of about 2,080,000 English pages).

The Stiletto doesn’t completely understand Google’s search algorithms (who does?) but inbound and outbound traffic is a fairly significant factor in natural search ranking. Non-geek speak: It’s you, the readers.

The Stiletto also thanks those who have become subscribers, and those who take the time to contribute their comments (a special thanks to "Qwerty the cucumber," who has offered many a pithy observation).

As The Stiletto Blog begins its second publishing year, The Stiletto hopes that lurkers will become regular readers, readers will become subscribers, and everyone will share their comments with each other. And please tell family, friends, neighbors and co-workers about The Stiletto Blog!

[Addendum: During this first year, The Heel - an Ivy-educated attorney with a prestigious New York firm who has been a protagonist in several posts - became an occasional poster himself. Going forward, The Stiletto will also be asking other smart people with strong convictions to offer analysis and comment on the events of the day.]

At the risk of being redundant: Happy birthday! Your blog is a refreshing antidote to the liberal (Students for a Democratic Foreign Policy - "Get the troops out of Iraq NOW!" - is the most annoying) atmosphere of my alma mater.
