NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: FCC Assigns Obscene Call Letters To TV Stations
Among a 15-page list of new computer-generated call letters issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are KUNT, for a planned TV station in Maui, HI, and KWTF, for a station in AZ, reports the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. The Skokie, IL-based company that owns both those stations, KM Communications Inc., plans to file for new call letters.
This is not the first time the regulatory agency – which is tasked with keeping indecent and obscene content off the airwaves – has issued questionable call letters: In August 2005 an Aspen, CO, radio station got the F-word in reverse – and devised a slogan to capitalize on the FCC’s gaffe ("Keeping Colorado Uniquely Free").

Even the FCC craves attention - and will get it somehow.
