NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Driven To Bank Robbery
Evonne D. Maurice, 22, was sentenced Friday to 37 months in prison for a failed bank robbery attempt. According to prosecutors, Maurice hired a limo in December 2005, then told the driver she needed to withdraw money from a bank to pay for the ride. At a Citizens Bank branch in Warwick, CT, she got out of the car and walked to the drive-up window and handed the teller a note demanding money. When the teller triggered an alarm, an empty-handed Maurice made a quick getaway in the limo. The law caught up with her in Tampa, FL, last year.
