WHAT HEELS!: “Plumbers” Were Snakes
Two phony plumbers entered the Manhattan apartment of an 81-year old woman on the pretext of having to check the pipes. Police told The Associated Press that "[w]hile one man looked at the pipes in the woman's kitchen and bathrooms, the [other] stole $400 cash from her bedroom." An hour later they pulled the same scam at a 92-year old woman's apartment, this time making off with $1,500. A surveillance camera in one of the two apartment buildings captured their images.
