WHAT HEELS!: An Abortion Clinic By Any Other Name

The building permits for a $7.5-million, 22,000-square-foot building under construction in the Chicago suburb of Aurora, IL, were issued to Gemini Office Development. It turns out, Gemini is a limited liability partnership owned by Planned Parenthood and the facility will provide abortions through the middle of the second trimester, reports the Los Angeles Times:

Furious residents packed a recent City Council meeting, taking turns at the microphone until nearly 2 a.m. They've been staging around-the-clock prayer vigils for more than a week. A demonstration Saturday drew 1,200 people.

The protests have prompted Aurora's mayor to hire an outside lawyer -- at $185 an hour -- to determine whether permits for the clinic were granted on fraudulent grounds. "We want to ensure our laws were properly followed," said Carie Anne Ergo, a spokeswoman for the city of about 170,000.

Steve Trombley, president and chief executive of the Chicago-area Planned Parenthood affiliate, said: "We are absolutely confident that everything we did was legal." …

It’s debatable whether setting up a sham corporation to obtain building permits under false pretenses is legal. Beyond question, though, is that Planned Parenthood’s deceitfulness is immoral. But then, what do you expect from an organization that kills 265,000 unborn babies a year?

Thanks for the coverage of the vigils! There was an irate letter from a mother of younguns in my local newspaper complaining that the pictures were too "graphic" and that she wanted to explain abortion to her daughters in her OWN way and when they were READY. What's this about Gardasil being recommended for girls as young as 9?...

Also, I can't resist quoting Reagan once more: "Isn't it ironic that all the supporters of abortion have already been born?"

Great news! The same local paper has allowed to run two (yes, two!) full-page newspaper ads on this. The first announced the vigils; the second one (just yesterday) contained damning facts about Planned Parenthood - most from their own policies and sponsored websites. The clinic's opening has also been stalled for a while...

Since Planned Parenthood obtained the building permits under false pretenses, The Stiletto hopes they're yanked. Apparently, Planned Parenthood has pulled this trick in other states and on one construction site the workers figured out what they were building and walked off the job, refusing to return.
