NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Park No Lark In Dark

Remember when The Stiletto told you that real New Yorkers – that is, born and bred – know better than to traipse about in Central Park at night? You should. It was on Monday (third item). Here’s why:

In a charming gazebo in Central Park Luke Jacunski, 30, a musician from Cincinnati, got on one knee and asked his girlfriend of six months, Japanese artist Mami Nagase, 24, to marry him. Seconds after she accepted his proposal, an armed robber jumped out from the bushes and demanded their money. Jacunski had the presence of mind to slip the engagement ring off Nagase’s finger and hide it in his pocket, but the thug took her Rolex watch and the $125 that Jacunski had planned to spend on a romantic dinner at a French restaurant.

Note that thanks to New York’s gun control laws, the thug was armed and the young couple was completely at his mercy. Thank G-d he only wanted money.
