WHAT A HEEL!: Minister Makes Off With Wedding Gifts
When Kitty and Shawn Sonnenschein were married at their Portland, OR, house they asked their friends to give them Home Depot gift cards to use in their kitchen remodeling project. But the basket they had set out by the guest book, contained only three gift cards. Home Depot cards. They didn’t want to accuse their guests of being cheap so they said nothing. But when their friends and family started asking what they planned to purchase with the gift cards they gave them, the couple’s suspicions were aroused. If the cards were stolen, there was only one logical perp: Rev. Shey-Rima Silveira, a minister they found though Craigslist to officiate at their wedding, reports The Associated Press. Home Depot was able to trace the gift cards and found that at least four of them had been used. A review of the store’s surveillance tapes showed Silveira buying tools and detergent; police arrested her on charges of second-degree theft.
