WHAT HEELS!: Unfortunate Cookies

Wonton Food, the largest fortune cookie baker in the U.S., makes about 4.5 million cookies a day and has an inventory of 10,000 fortunes to fill them with. A few months ago, the Queens, NY-based company introduced 600 new fortunes. Among them:

"Today is a disastrous day. If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em."

"It’s over your head now. Time to get some professional help."

"There may be a crisis looming, be ready for it."

"Your luck is just not there. Attend to practical matters today."

Bernard Chow, the company’s marketing coordinator, tells The New York Times that instead of the typical cryptic message, the sad sack sayings are "a little bit more value-added" and offer a "different perspective."

Maybe so, but it sure doesn’t make for a happy meal.

Some of those fortunes sound like they would fit several unnamed politicians' situations remarkably closely!
