This triggered my digging up of my old microbiology notes. Crohn's disease, being autoimmune (as could be inferred from "inflammatory") has been successfully combated with the giving of a worm infection. Gross, but it works. I'm wondering why antibiotics are prescribed to quell the symptoms, because the disease is a byproduct of an over-hygienic culture. We use so many antibiotics (I've made quite a few posts about that on my blog) these days that the immune system has nothing to do anymore, so it attacks the body's own cells. That is, it has nothing to do until you get MRSA... (more posts about that too)
