NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: Clinton Campaign Takes A Page From FEMA’s Playbook
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) was lambasted by presidential rivals left and right when it became apparent that her operatives had put words in the mouth of a college student, who asked the candidate about global warming during a campaign stop at a Newton, IA, biodiesel facility last week. The young woman blabbed about being a plant, and even divulged that a staffer signaled Clinton to call on her – which her campaign denies, claiming that Hillary "did not did not know which questioners she was calling on during the event." Yeah - and Hill’s a good tipper, too.
The problem isn’t so much that the question was planted – "[i]t's a routine part of preparation for the advance people staging every event," reports the Los Angeles Times – it’s that a naif was chosen to do the deed. Typically, only "known local supporters who can be trusted" are recruited, and they keep mum about the clandestine operation because they "are flattered by their moment in the limelight addressing the possible next president in front of friends. They want the world to think it's their own question."
So on this occasion – and at least one other back in April, again in IA - Clinton’s operatives were as inept as FEMA’s press secretary, Aaron Walker, who will step down from his post Dec. 7th in the aftermath of the phony press conference fiasco.
