NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: A Nut Tries To Loosen A Lug
An ostensibly stone cold sober 66-year-old WA man trying to loosen the last lug nut from the right rear wheel of a Lincoln Continental finally gave up when the thing just wouldn’t budge, and tried blasting it off with a 12-gauge shotgun. The Associated Press reports that he was "’peppered’ in both legs with shot and other debris," and treated at Tacoma General Hospital for severe but not life-threatening injuries. The AP article did not mention what happened to the lug nut.

Reminds me of a line from "The Longest Day" -- a crusty old general, upon discovering an Allied jeep that refused to work, quoted his grandmother: "Anything mechanical? Give it a good bash!" and proceeded to whack it with his substantial cane...voila! It started!
