Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau has created a crime victim’s unit for illegal aliens who can report incidents without fear of being arrested or deported. Morgenthau said his office handles 110,000 cases a year and one-third of them involve people who don't speak English. "New York is a city of immigrants, and the United States is a country of immigrants. Everyone who comes here is entitled to the full protection of the law," Morgenthau tells The Associated Press. New York City taxpayers – some of whom are legal immigrants - who are footing the bill for the DA’s salary are entitled to know that he is prosecuting people who break the law – including immigration and identity theft laws.

Hanukkah Bonus: It Just Ain’t Kosher!
Balducci's, a gourmet grocery in New York's Greenwich Village offered hams for sale over the week-end with a sign proclaiming them "Delicious for Hanukkah." One customer – a self-described non-observant Jew – got a kick out of the sign and posted a photo of it online. When she returned to the store on Tuesday, the first night of Hanukkah, the sign was gone. A manager told the New York Post that a stock clerk was to blame.
