Several shoe manufacturers, such as Converse, Nike, Steve Madden and Vans, allow customers to design their own shoes by selecting a style and having it made in the material and color of their choice. Another company, tupli.com, allows a woman to create a one-of-a-kind pair of shoes, by sending the company her exact foot measurements and a wish list such decorative flourishes as rhinestones, logos, monograms – just about anything they can think of. Individuality comes at a cost, however. Tupli charges $750 and up for shoes and $1,450 for boots; customers must wait six to eight weeks for them.
