WHAT A HEEL!: Mother Lies About Husband’s Death In Iraq So Daughter Could Win Hannah Montana Tickets

Priscilla Ceballos' daughter, Alexis Menjivar, beat out more than 1,000  contestants to win the Grand Prize - a make-over at Club Libby Lu, tickets to a sold-out Hannah Montana concert in Albany, NY, plus airfare and accommodations - with this essay for kiddie salon’s "Hannah Montana Rock Your Holidays Essay Contest":

"My daddy died this year in Iraq. I am going to give mommy the Angel pendant that daddy put on mommy when she was having me. I had it in my jewelry box since that day. I love my mommy."

An investigation by KXAS-TV-Channel 5 (Dallas-Fort Worth, TX) revealed that the girl’s father did not died in Iraq on April 17, 2007, but is alive and well working as a carpet cleaner in TX. In a telephone interview, Ceballos admitted to the station’s reporters that she had made up the story to win the contest, and that no one asked her if the story was true.

Club Libby Lu's PR firm said it had no reason to believe the information in the essay was false, and is awarding the grand prize to another contest winner. Club Libby Lu said it would not disclose the name of the new winner to protect the family's privacy.
