NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: There’s Only One Sharpie® In This Story

Donna Faye Pectol, 49, allegedly attempted to rob Jolley's Market in Westel, TN, with a Sharpie® marker in her pocket, which she tried to fool the convenience store clerk into thinking was a gun. Pectol’s behavior aroused the suspicions of the store’s owner who wrote down the make, model and color of her car, as well as the plate number. When Pectol demanded money from the clerk, the owner said they had none and a brief struggle ensued between the two. When the owner freed herself and called 911, the marker fell out of Pectol’s pocket as she fled the scene. Police found the black 1997 Mazda Miatta parked at Pectol’s home and took her into custody, reports the Crossville Chronicle (though the paper spelled the name of the car incorrectly).
