WHAT A HEEL!: Illegal Alien Convicted In Plot To Rape, Murder Employee
Menlo Park, CA, jewelry store owner Ricardo Zambrano, 38, who has been in the U.S. illegally for 20 years, hired a hitman to kidnap, rape and kill one of his employees who had spurned him. The hitman, Alfonso Cuevas Gonzalez, forced her into a car at gunpoint as she left work, drove her to Fresno and stashed her in a basement. She escaped and called her family. Both men were convicted. Zambrano was sentenced to 39 years to life in prison, Gonzalez got 35 years to life.
Editorial Note: The Mexican government - which opposes the death penalty when its nationals are convicted of capital offenses in the U.S. - should foot the bill for Zambrano’s upkeep, since he is not a U.S. citizen. The San Francisco Chronicle article on which this post is based, omits Gonzalez’s immigration status.
