GOODY TWO SHOES: Another Conflict Of Interest Scandal – This Time Not At The Wall Street Journal
The Wall Street Journal isn’t the only media outfit that seems to have difficulty disclosing conflicts of interest and hidden agendas.
On December 31, 2007, CNN election analyst William J. Bennett contributed $4600 to Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign. Perhaps in an effort to be “fair and balanced,” Bennett also gave an unknown amount to Mitt Romney's campaign in January 2008. He did not disclose these contributions to viewers during his recent appearances on the cable news network, according to a review of transcripts by Huffington Post. Not only that, Bennett disavowed any conflict of interest, and “claimed on-air that he was neutral in the GOP race, even as he repeatedly dispensed advice to McCain on how he could win over doubtful conservatives.”
So because Bennett hedged his bets and gave money to both frontrunners, it’s the same thing as being “neutral?” Fmr. Gov. Mike Huckabee and Rep. Ron Paul probably don’t think so – and neither does The Stiletto.
