NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Rules Is Rules

A Greyhound Bus driver who was driving 40 parolees - some wearing ankle bracelets - from the state prison in Huntsville to Dallas pulled up in front of a convenience store some 60 miles away and packed it in for the day, because as of 4 p.m. she had reached the number of hours she was allowed to drive without a rest period according to company rules. She told her passengers that another driver was on the way to complete the trip. A clerk in the convenience store called police, who “to find the former prisoners milling around the bus,” reports The Associated Press. “In 31 years in law enforcement I've never seen anything like this,”  Corsicana Police Sgt. Lamoin Lawhon tells AP. It took three hours and several phone calls to Greyhound by the police on the scene for another bus to arrive. Greyhound is investigating the incident.
