WHAT A HEEL!: Lawyer Gets Jail Time For Abetting Jail Break
Albany, GA, attorney William P. Keenan will serve five years in jail and was forced to surrender his law license for furnishing a dangerous weapon to an inmate and conspiracy to commit escape after he smuggled a 14-inch saw blade to client Dareon Varner on February 22nd of last year, reports the Fulton County Daily Report. At the time, Keenan was representing Varner against charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Varner, who was caught with the blade and a diagram of the outside of the jail, was found guilty of the crimes with which he was charged and sentenced to 25 years imprisonment. He has also pleaded guilty to charges of attempted escape and possession of a dangerous weapon by an inmate, but has not been sentenced on those charges yet.
