WHAT A HEEL!: Cop Accused of Killing K-9 Partner
Rondal Lardy Brown, 49, a trainer for Miami police K-9 classes and a dog handler, has been charged with felony counts of cruelty to animals and offenses against police dogs, for allegedly starving his K-9 partner, Dynasty, to death. When investigators found the dog’s body, it was just 33 pounds – half its normal weight. Brown, who denies the allegations, turned himself in to police and has been suspended with pay, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Vets who examined the carcass estimated that the dog had been starved for at least a month; a board-certified pathologist did not find cancer or any other chronic disease for in the dog's heart, liver and brain. Brown contends that Dynasty had been playing in a nearby construction site the night before her death and could have eaten rat poison.
