THE OTHER SHOE DROPS: Updates To Previous Posts

What Freedom Of Religion Means To Muslims: “Fitna,” a 15-minute film by Dutch MP Geert Wilders warning against the Islamization of Europe – described by the media as “anti-Muslim” or “anti-Koran” – is now available for viewing at Liveleak.com. Network Solutions “suspended the fitnathemovie.com website while … investigating whether the site’s content is in violation of the … Acceptable Use Policy,” and Dutch broadcasters have refused to air the film.

“Fitna” weaves together relevant verses from the Koran with footage of the terror attacks in NYC, London and Madrid, beheadings, snippets of sermons by radical imams ("What makes Allah happy? Allah is happy when non-Muslims are killed."; "You will take over the U.S.A. You will take over Europe.") and newspaper articles about honor killings, attacks on gays and genital mutilation of women that have occurred in The Netherlands. It's strong stuff, and should leave no doubt that the West has been dragged into a Holy War with radical Islam, and that we are not just fighting for our way of life but for our very lives.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, in an interview on Dutch TV, Wilders said, "I do not hate the Muslim people.” YNetNews reports that Wilders also said he made the film because ''Islam and the Koran are dangers to the preservation of freedom in the Netherlands in the long term, and I have to warn people of that.''

Update: Due to threats against its staff “of a serious nature,” Liveleak.com has pulled “Fitna” from its site. The site owners call this a “sad day for freedom of speech on the net,” but insist on putting the safety and well-being of employees above all other considerations. “We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high.”

The Stiletto's pal, Malcom Pollack, who writes the waka waka waka blog, dropped her a note to let her know that you can still view "Fitna" here

Fed Up With Farmers: A bushel of corn fetches something like 2.5 times the 2006 price of $2.20, and farm income is expected to reach an all-time high of $92.3 billion in 2008 – yet, farmers will still rake in $13 billion in federal subsidies this year. The Wall Street Journal details how we got from Point A (“A little more than a year ago, the stars appeared to be aligned for significant changes to the complex piece of legislation known as the farm bill, which allots billions of dollars to farmers and landowners to help stabilize grain prices, make products more competitive abroad and provide a plentiful food supply.”) to Point B (“As Congress tries to finish writing the new farm bill, the final tab is likely to be larger than the 2002 bill, which totaled more than $260 billion.”). Hint: “The agribusiness industry plowed more than $80 million into lobbying last year, according to the nonprofit Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks spending on lobbying. Much of that was focused on the farm bill.”

Prediction: Christians Will Be “Extinct” In The Holy Land Within 60 Years: Maybe not. In a column earlier this week, Prison Fellowship Ministries founder Chuck Colson cites data from various sources that Muslims are converting to Christianity by the tens of thousands:

[I]n Russia, some two million ethnic Muslims converted to Christianity last year. Ten thousand French Muslims converted, as did 35,000 Turkish Muslims. In India, approximately 10,000 people abandoned Islam for Christianity. …

In Algeria, the birthplace of St. Augustine, more than 80,000 Muslims have turned to Christ in recent years. … In Morocco, newspaper articles openly worry that 25,000 to 40,000 Muslims have become followers of Christ in recent years. …

In Sudan, as many as five million Muslims have accepted Christ since the early 1990s, despite horrific persecution of Christians by the Sudanese government. What is behind the mass conversions? According to a Sudanese evangelical leader, “People have seen real Islam, and they want Jesus instead.”

In many Middle Eastern countries, evangelism is forbidden and converts to Christianity are often subjected to persecution by the government, for example, Turkey, a so-called “secular democracy.”

One high-profile conversion occurred during Holy Week, when Pope Benedict XVI baptized Magdi Allam, an Egyptian-born editor at the Milan newspaper Corriere della Sera into the Roman Catholic faith during an Easter vigil service in St. Peter's Basilica.

An Italian citizen since 1986, Allam took the name "Christian" for his baptism. The Associated Press reports that in an interview on Italian TV, Allam said he felt “stronger” and “great joy” because of his conversion, and that the pope “wanted to give a signal to the church throughout the world” that any who want to join will be accepted.
