WHAT A HEEL!: Embezzler Caught Nun Too Soon

 

Sister Barbara Markey, the former director of the Omaha Archdiocese's family life office has pleaded guilty to theft. An audit of the books found that she diverted $307,545, and prosecutors say the Roman Catholic nun had lost most of it gambling and used the rest for gifts and travel, reports The Associated Press. Markey can be sentenced to as much as 20 years in prison, and has agreed to pay $125,000 in restitution.
