WHAT A HEEL!: You Can’t Hide Your Prying Eyes

Lawanda J. Jackson, 49, an administrative specialist at the UCLA Medical Center has admitted to sneaking peeks at the private medical records of 61 people, including CA’s First Lady Maria Shriver, Britney Spears and Farrah Fawcett. She told the Los Angeles Times that “it was just me being nosy.” She also insisted, “I didn't leak anything or anything like that. It wasn't for money or anything. It was just looking.” A review by the UCLA Hospital System of phone calls Jackson made from work, as well as e-mails she had sent, bears this out. But the Times notes that, “Without a subpoena or an employee's cooperation … UCLA would be unable to access an employee's personal telephone logs or banking records.” The California Department of Public Health may yet sanction the hospital over the privacy breaches, and Jackson could face criminal charges.
