ON THE CUTTING EDGE: A Little Birdie Told Them

 

UCLA journalism grad student James Karl Buck, who was arrested in Egypt last week while in that country researching how local bloggers and journos use text messaging, cell phone cameras and other tech tools, credits Twitter with helping spring him from jail, reports The Washington Post. He posted a one-word message (known as a “tweet”) – “Arrested” – on the social networking site to get the word out to his friends, who contacted the U.S. Embassy and UCLA, which got a lawyer on his case ASAP.
