WHAT HEELS!: Los Angeles Times Questions John McCain’s Naval Disability Pension

Los Angeles Times reporter Ralph Vartabedian wrote one of the most appalling articles The Stiletto has read in quite some time, the premise of which can be summed up thus:

If John McCain (R-AZ) is, as he claims, fit and healthy enough to assume the responsibilities of the presidency why is he collecting a tax-free disability pension from the U.S. Navy?

As the article notes, McCain broke both arms and shattered his knee when he was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967, did not get medical treatment for these injuries during the 5½ years he spent imprisoned in the Hanoi Hilton as a POW, and cannot raise his hands above his shoulders as a result. Think about that, Vartabedian, the next time you comb your hair or put on your Dodgers cap. Sheesh!
