NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: Colorblinded Commissioners

At a Dallas County commissioners meeting to discuss problems with traffic ticket payments, Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield complained that the central collections office “has become a black hole” where paperwork disappears, reports The Dallas Morning News. Commissioner John Wiley Price and Judge Thomas Jones took exception to the reference, with Price describing the office as a “white hole” and Jones demanding that Mayfield apologize “for his racially insensitive analogy,” according to the paper. Mayfield refused to apologize on the grounds that “black hole” is a figure of speech and a science term.

Editorial Note: The Dallas Morning News felt compelled to (a) state Mayfield’s race; (b) state Price’s and Jones’ race; and (c) define a “black hole.” The Stiletto knows her readers are too intelligent to require any of this information, so she has omitted it from this summary. However, the article is worth clicking on just to read the comments.
