THE DAILY BLADE: The Uniter: Part II
For someone who is selling himself as a “uniter,” Barack Obama has managed to create fissures and fault lines between and among every conceivable voting bloc – and has even divided spouses and families.
Case in point: Jesse Jackson père and fils having a public falling out over the elder Jackson’s having been caught on tape saying he wanted to “cut Obama’s nuts off” (video) for “talking down to black people.” Here’s Junior’s reax (he’s an Obama campaign co-chairman):

Other examples of Obama’s divisiveness:
† Abortionist vs. Abortionist: When NARAL Pro-Choice America endorsed Obama over Hillary Clinton as the Dem nominee, state chapters in MO, NY, OR, PA, TX, and WA were quick to declare their neutrality in the race, even going as far as stating that the national headquarters did not speak for them.
† Black vs. Black: Leaving aside the ideological divide (conservatives Larry Elder and Michael Steele support John McCain), House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) called out Obama’s former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright for “knee-capping” the candidate on national TV, and was particularly disdainful of Wright’s claim that an attack on him was an attack on the black church. And other blacks were horrified when Obama initially defended Wright by suggesting that his anti-American, black separatist sermonizing was “a black church thing.” Finally, old school civil rights leaders are uncomfortable with much of Obama’s purportedly post-racial agenda.
† Donor vs. Donor: Despite having their ostensibly having buried the hatchet, Obama’s supporters are not rushing to help retire Clinton’s campaign debt, and Clinton’s supporters are loathe to open their purse strings to finance Obama’s national campaign.
† Feminist vs. Feminist: The Associated Press described the schism among young feminists and their (way) older sisters: “At breakfast forums, in op-ed columns, across the blogosphere, the debate has been heartfelt and sometimes bitter. Are the activist women supporting front-runner Barack Obama betraying their gender? Are
† Moderate vs. Moonbat: With Obama dancing to the middle as fast as he can on a variety of issues - reworking the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to grant immunity to telecom companies, the timetable for withdrawing U.S. forces from Iraq, and even abortion - that his hard-left supporters in the liberal blogosphere are up in arms and are warning the candidate in so many words that they made him and they can break him. “When a candidate decides to move to the center, he shouldn't move away from us,”
† Priest vs. Parishioner: Douglas Kmiec, who is anti-abortion and served in the Reagan Justice Department, was denied Communion at a Mass in April after announcing his support for pro-choice Obama. And Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann of the Archdiocese of Kansas City reportedly has asked Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) – rumored to be a contender for the No. 2 spot on the Dem ticket – to voluntarily refrain from taking communion until she renounces her pro-abortion stance.
† Victim vs. Victim: As Obama and Clinton battled each other to a stalemate during the primary season, the ambitions, aspirations and grievances of blacks and women were pitted against one another. In handing the nomination to Obama by awarding him a share of the MI delegates after he had voluntarily withdrawn from the contest, the Dem leadership had obviously decided it was in the party’s best interests not to alienate the black vote (some pundits even predicted ‘60s-style race riots). Compared to the risk of having entire neighborhoods burning, bra burning seemed the lesser of two evils.
† White vs. White: Surveying the Dem primary race, The New York Times’ Timothy Egan wrote, “She’s got her white voters. He’s got his. Her whites go to church every week. His whites are more secular.
