WHAT HEELS!: Cops Raid MD Mayor’s Home, Shoot His Dogs

When Berwyn Heights, MD, Mayor Cheye Calvo got home from work on July 29th, he found a package addressed to his wife, Trinity Tomsic, on front porch and took it inside. Without warning, police kicked in the front door with guns drawn, shot his two black labs to death and grabbed the unopened package – which turned out to be 32 lbs of pot, reports The Associated Press. The Calvos were apparently the victims of a drug smuggling ring that included a FedEx deliveryman who would leave a drug package at a random house for an accomplice to retrieve. Calvo is demanding that the U.S. Justice Department investigate how the raid went down, and says the two dogs were “gentle creatures” that the police killed “for sport.” For his part, Prince George's County Police Chief Melvin High has not ruled out the couple’s involvement in the smuggling ring and claimed his officers “felt threatened” by the dogs.
