THE OTHER SHOE DROPS: Updates To Previous Posts

Hillary Clinton’s Supporters HOPE To CHANGE The Top Of Their Party’s Ticket: Did John Edwards running for president under false pretences cost Hillary Clinton the nomination? Her former communications director, Howard Wolfson, thinks so, telling ABCNews: “I believe we would have won Iowa, and Clinton today would therefore have been the nominee.” Though Edwards edged out Hillary for a second-place finish on January 3rd, David Redlawsk - a former volunteer for the candidate who runs the University of Iowa's Hawkeye Poll – begs to differ, contending that his polling on the night of the caucus amongst the 82 percent of Edwards supporters willing to back someone else, suggests that 51 percent chose Barack Obama as their Plan B, while 32 percent picked Clinton.

While it’s debatable whether Hillary would have won in IA, after Edwards dropped out of the race she captured his older, blue-collar base. If Edwards had not been in the race Hillary would have gotten traction a lot earlier in the primary season – and there would have been no debate over whether she or Obama had won the popular vote. Also, recall that Edwards kept
teaming up with Obama to attack Hillary during the debates. When Hillary went one-on-one with Obama, she made mincemeat out of him, so voters would have determined early on that he was the weaker candidate.

Carrying The Torch For The “Genocide Olympics”: China – perhaps the most brazen counterfeiters of pharmaceuticals, software and luxury goods in the world – was caught faking two highlights of the opening ceremony. Nine-year-old Lin Miaoke, lip-syncedOde to the Motherland” to the voice of 9-year-old Lin Miaoke whose appearance was not deemed ready for prime time (reportedly because she has buck teeth). And the “live” fireworks that TV viewers saw forming the shape of 29 footprints trudging across the sky from Tiananmen Square toward the National Stadium was actually a computer-generated image electronically inserted into the video feed in real time.

Updates To Previous Posts (fourth item, Employers Hiring Forged Documented Aliens Are Lawbreakers In Other Ways, Too): After the federal immigration raid that uncovered violations of immigration, labor and safety laws at kosher meatpacking plant Agriprocessors in Postville, IA, “some Jews [are] demanding that food companies be judged not just by the purity of their products but by the way their treat their employees," reports The Associated Press. Rabbi Morris Allen of Beth Jacob Congregation in Mendota Heights, MN, is developing a program to award a “hekhsher tzedek” (“certificate of righteousness”) to companies that “pay fair wages, ensure workplace safety, follow government environmental rules and treat animals humanely.”
