In 1958 the good people of Elkhart, IN, buried a time capsule to commemorate the city’s centennial. Their successors serving on a city committee voted to open the time capsule, briefly display the contents, add new items and rebury it until 2058 but their plan ran into a snag when no one could remember where to look for it, reports The Associated Press. The city is going ahead plans to create and bury a new capsule to immortalize the city’s sesquicentennial – and this time, Mary Jo Weyrick, the city council's administrative assistant, vows to record its whereabouts in city council records and the public library, among other places.
