WHAT A HEEL: The New Agenda Has Chris Matthews In Its Crosshairs
The New Agenda, a newly formed non-partisan women’s rights advocacy group, sent a letter to NBC Universal President and CEO Jeff Zucker taking him to task over “the disregard shown by NBC Universal towards girls and women on the air, specifically by Chris Matthews, your marquee talent and host of Hardball,” citing these transgressions (among others):.
† Calling Hillary Clinton a “she devil” and “Nurse Ratched.”
† Asking Nancy Pelosi if she was “going to castrate Steny Hoyer” when she became Speaker of the House.
† Telling CNBC anchor Erin Burnett: “[Y]ou’re beautiful” and “[y]ou’re a knockout.”
The letter notes that “[i]f Matthews were an employee in a Fortune 500 Company he would have been fired for sexual harassment long ago” and requests that Zucker and Matthews meet with representatives the group as “a gesture of good will.”
The New Agenda said MSNBC’s decision to demote anchors Matthews and Keith Olbermann to analysts for the duration of the general election coverage is “a step in the right direction” but “too little too late.”
Another letter citing similar concerns had previously been sent to NBC News President Steve Capus by National Organization For Women back in January.
