THE DAILY BLADE: Repubs Are Happy, Happy, Happy
Remember that study (second item) that purported to discern a person’s political proclivities by how his or her home or office is decorated - cleanliness is conservative, clutter is liberal? Or the one that concluded liberals read more books than conservatives (second item)? Or the one that claimed that the liberal brain is wired to handle ambiguity better than the conservative brain (second item)?
Well forget all that. In addition to conservatives being more patriotic and prouder of their country than liberals, The Washington Post reports that Repubs are also happier then Dems:

The pollsters were in the field asking about happiness this month, a period when economic news was gloomy for everybody and presidential campaign news seemed especially baleful for Republicans. Yet they found 37 percent of Republicans are “very happy,” compared with 25 percent of Democrats; 51 percent of Republicans and 52 percent of Democrats are "pretty happy"; and 9 percent of Republicans are "not too happy," compared with 20 percent of Democrats.
The partisan happiness gap - unbroken for nearly four decades - is impervious to electoral ups and downs. It has something to do with worldview. …
What's the Republicans' secret to feeling groovy?
"They have more money," Paul Taylor, director of the Pew Social & Demographic Trends project, writes in the new report. "They have more friends. They are more religious. They are healthier. They are more likely to be married. They like their communities better. They like their jobs more. They are more satisfied with their family life. They like the weather better."
Contemplating the implications of the survey, WaPo reporter David Montgomery asks, “Wow, do Democrats need to get a life?” Um, yes. Dems will surely be happier if they hew to the pro-family, pro-faith and pro-fiscal responsibility values that have served individuals and society at large so well. BTW, in every country surveyed conservatives are happier than liberals.

According to police, a 13-year-old New Zealand girl became “enraged” and allegedly went on a rampage at the Casuarina Square mall in Darwin after losing a fist fight with another girl in front of a crowd, and held a knife to a shopper's neck and stabbed a car - as a mother and two children cowered within, reports NEWS.com.au. Casuarina Police Station officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant John Ginnane told the media that the girl’s actions were “unbelievable,” and that the only discernable motive was “humiliation or embarrassment of losing a fight in front of her peers.”
But regular readers of this blog know better: The American Medical Association’s theory is that she had been led astray after seeing cigar smoking in a movie.
