NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: CNN’s Election Coverage Jumps The Shark

Every presidential election, the network and cable news programs try to top themselves - and each other - with whiz-bang graphics and “Election Headquarters” sets that look like something out of a science fiction movie, despite the red-white-and-blue color scheme. This time around, CNN left the news universe entirely with its over-the-top “holographic” images that anchors Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper and Campbell Brown “interviewed” – but whose “presence” on the set served no purpose other than to show off the technological wizardry of the cable networks IT geeks. It was a fitting ending to the dazzling campaign of a content-free candidate who bedazzled the media into providing Americans content-free coverage of him.
