GOODY TWO SHOES: Why Is The MSM Aiding And Abetting Terrorism?
Wall Street Journal columnist Bret Stephens observes that “[w]hen it comes to terrorists and their grievances, nearly all the Western media have provided them with a rich diet on which to feed” - Abu Ghraib; the 2000 accusation (since discredited) by a French reporter that Israel soldiers shot and killed Mohammed al-Durrah, a 12-year-old Palestinian boy; Newsweek’s 2005 story (later retracted) about the Koran being flushed down a Guantanamo toilet. Stephens notes that the Koran story resulted in 15 people being killed in Afghan riots and that Durrah “became the poster child for a five-year intifada that took several thousand lives,” and posits that “[m]aybe Durrah was somewhere in the minds of the Mumbai killers.”
Stephens asks the $64,000 question: “[W]hy the media has been so intent on magnifying genuine scandals (like Abu Ghraib) to the point that they become the moral equivalent of 9/11.”
