WHAT A HEEL: Conniving Woman Concocts Weird Kidnapping
Meagan McCormic, 22, sent Miami police on a wild goose chase to find a missing 6-month-old son, Riley, who had been kidnapped by a French nanny named Camile. It turned out that neither the boy nor the nanny existed, and McCormic had woven the tragic tale out of whole cloth to “hang on to a boyfriend who lived 1,400 miles away” and had visited her at Christmas “to see his son for the first time, or so he believed,” reports the Los Angeles Times:
"She really thought this out and took great steps to try to fool everybody," Police Cmdr. Delrish Moss said. She even bought clothes for little "Riley Buchness," tucking them neatly into a bedroom drawer. …
McCormic had a miscarriage in March, but told [her boyfriend, John Buchness] she'd had his child, police said. …

McCormic has been charged with filing a false police report, and police want her to repay for overtime pay and other expenses related to the Christmas Day search.
