WHAT A HEEL: She Who Pays The Piper Gets To Call The Tune
MI’s paternity act requires a father to pay hospital and medical costs if his girlfriend is receiving public assistance when she gives birth - unless he marries the woman. When Rebecca Witt gave birth to daughter JaeLyn four years ago, the state paid the hospital $3,800 because she was on Medicaid at the time, and now wants reimbursement from the child’s father, Gary Johnson, reports The Flint (MI) Journal. If Johnson can produce a marriage license, the state will waive his obligation.
Witt tells the paper:
"I don't think anybody should tell me when to get married. I would like to have a nice wedding, and I can wait for it." …
"Losing just $10 hurts us ... We don't have a car, we don't even have an oven." …
"The (government is) supposed to help us." …
Can you believe this woman’s irresponsibility and sense of entitlement? She and her boyfriend can’t afford an oven, but they can afford to have a baby - as long as taxpayers pay for it, no strings attached.
